Sea-to-plate fish and seafood cookery in the bustling environs of Spitalfields Market. Start with a simple but effective dish of seared octopus, served in a fancy pan with chunks of chorizo and broad beans, or crab and scampi with curried mayonnaise and pickled pear. Continue, perhaps, with biting lemon and chilli with sea bass, or sweet grapes in classic lemon sole Véronique. There are meats too, such as duck with blood orange, and unashamedly populist desserts, such as caramel-centred chocolate pot, or green apple parfait with a cinnamon doughnut and crème fraîche ice cream. However, pairings of Scottish cheeses and malt whisky are a powerful distraction from the sweet stuff.
