The Wolseley fizzes with energy. Staff rush about, customers chatter, and that's the case all day long beneath its wrought-iron chandeliers and cathedral-like vaulted ceiling, from breakfast through to evening meals. Timeless brasserie classics are the deal, starting with haddock goujons with tartare sauce followed by grilled cod with cauliflower purée and lentil salad, a simple steak, or schnitzel. Desserts carry on in the same classic vein with crème brûlée or apple strudel. Breakfast is anything from full English to fried haggis with duck eggs and whisky sauce, and the all-day concept fits the bill whether you're after savoury satisfaction or a sweet treat.
