The long-running all-day Italian eaterie is tucked away in an expansive Covent Garden basement that was once an orchid warehouse. Now it's all white-tiled columns and framed photos of Milan in the 1950s, and the place fairly buzzes with chatter, clinking glasses and unstuffy quick-fire service, with a crowd-pleasing menu showcasing regional Italian cooking. Expect platters of classic antipasti, crab linguine with lime and chilli, roast chicken in spicy nduja dressing with rosemary and garlic potatoes and rocket, and then torta di cioccolato with clotted cream to finish. A fixed-price pre-theatre option and all-Italian wine list add to the timeless appeal.
