Contemporary Italian with a cool City vibe

The city branch of Manicomio occupies a Sir Norman Foster-designed glass building with a buzzy ground-floor terrace and café-bar (open from breakfast) and a sleek first-floor restaurant dressed up with a decor as sober as the suited-and-booted city types at its black leather seats and white-linen-clad tables. Light and fresh contemporary Italian cooking that pays due respect to the provenance, seasonality and quality of its ingredients is the deal here, so a summery outing starts with chargrilled Galician octopus with caponata, saffron and pinenuts, followed by yellowfin tuna, panzanella salad, chilli and lemon, and finish with chocolate mousse, mocha and cardamom ice cream.
