This neighbourhood restaurant on Hammersmith's main drag has a man with pedigree at the stoves in the shape of ex-Zafferano head chef Andy Needham. The setting is smart-casual – darkwood floors, polished wood tables, buttoned brown leather banquettes and cream-painted walls hung with modern art. A starter plate of Cornish mackerel sauced with white wine, onions and saffron comes with marinated tomatoes, then pearls of Sardinian fregola gets the seafood treatment with prawns and mussels in a tomato and chilli sauce. Meaty mains could see chargrilled lamb matched with pickled girolles, peas and a piquant salsa verde. Chocolate and almond tart with salted caramel ice cream makes a fine finale.
