The mothership of Mark Hix's restaurant empire pays homage to Brit Art with an eclectic collection of artworks by celebrated artists like Damien Hirst and Sarah Lucas, while the patriotic brasserie fare celebrates seasonality and the UK’s splendid regional produce. The cooking focuses on the simple treatment of prime ingredients, as seen in spanking fresh Isle of Uist razor clams with broad beans and Trealy Farm chorizo, and steamed Isle if Gigha halibut teamed with girolles and marsh samphire. Though carte prices are high, the fixed-price options are easier on the wallet. The bustling, clubby Mark's Bar downstairs is the place for cocktails and fashionable small-plate food.
