Ember Yard is the latest in the chain of uptempo tapas outfits that have been trending in the capital in recent years. The food comes inspired by Spain (the Basque country in particular) and Italy, and is smoked or cooked simply on a Basque-style wood and charcoal grill. Sharing platters of classy charcuterie and cheeses are sourced from peerless suppliers like everything else, otherwise start with chargrilled cuttlefish with a sweet hit from honey-roasted butternut squash and citrus-packed gremolata, and don't miss the melt-in-the-mouth chargrilled Ibérica presa (shoulder), served with whipped jamón butter. Finish in style with moist vanilla and almond cake, ricotta and juicy loquats.
