Richard Corrigan is a chef who likes to feed, to satisfy, and here, in his Mayfair flagship, he does just that in a dining room that is as buffed-up and glossy as you'd expect in the blue-chip postcode. There's a real feel of old-school grandeur as you take in the sleek art deco-style looks and sink into plush navy-blue leather seats and banquettes at linen-clothed tables; the front-of-house team are as slick as they come. Corrigan’s Anglo-Irish food is grounded in honest-to-goodness gutsiness and robustness, allied to the pin-sharp techniques of haute cuisine and presented with modern swagger, whether you go for the six-course taster, the keenly-priced seasonal set lunch, or the carte. To start, Carlingford oysters are a fixture, but if you prefer the chefs to do some proper work, consider seared Orkney scallops with cauliflower, vanilla and cocoa. At main-course stage there might be braised beef cheek, as meltingly tender as you’d like, with cauliflower and marrow croquette, while desserts such as blood orange soufflé with marmalade and sheep’s yogurt are equally on the money.
