Brigade offers an upbeat, high-decibel vibe in an airy contemporary space helped along by the sounds, sights and smells of the central open kitchen (perch at the counter for a close-up view). Expect uncomplicated modern food driven by fresh, seasonal produce, much of it sourced from local suppliers and markets such as nearby Borough Market. Scotch egg with beetroot piccalilli and fennel and green apple slaw is a sound opening gambit, followed by a summery British take on seafood bouillabaisse with saffron and garlic rouille, or take the comfort route with a burger made from rump steak and shredded oxtail and finish with bitter chocolate tart with marmalade ice cream.
