Virtually under the sails of an 18th-century windmill, Twelve has a stylish, urban interior and a kitchen that works with regional producers and suppliers to deliver an appealing contemporary menu. Kick off with Madras-cured salmon with charred spring onion and salad cream or woodland mushrooms with cep velouté and the whiff of truffles. Next up, hay-baked rack of lamb, barbecued Cumbrian pork chop, or loin of cod with caramelised chicory with a fruity hit of rhubarb. To finish, a fun banana butty arrives with salted popcorn, brûlée and shake. The Market menu is terrific value, and cracking Sunday roasts include roast topside of Bowland Forest beef.
