Hard by Edward I's castle and the attractive shoreline with its Victorian pier, the Bull has been provisioning Beaumaris for a good five centuries and more. It's in the Loft with its beamed sloping ceilings that the serious dining goes on, where local materials, including fine seafood, are the foundation. A grilled mackerel fillet with a gentle jolt of wasabi is enterprisingly garnished with beetroot and burnt white chocolate, prior to seared lamb loin with wonderful artichoke and tomato gnocchi, if a little less wonderfully overwhelmed by black olives. Lemon tart is ingeniously scented with ginger and thyme, and comes with an intense, rapidly melting sorbet.
