The original stable block of the Georgian mansion has been given a modern makeover under its rafters and is now the informal eatery at The Grove. The open-to-view kitchen is equipped with a wood-fired oven and chargrill, but the menu has a lot more going for it than pizzas and steaks. Imaginative starters run from chicken liver and foie gras brûlée to beetroot and goats' cheese tarte Tatin with truffled honey. Seafood gets a good airing, from aromatic crab cake to well-timed roast pollack with cockles, pancetta and Jerusalem artichoke purée. Dark chocolate tart and Baileys crème brûlée are popular finishers.
