Wines by the glass

A Grade II listed building on a cobbled street just a hop and a skip from the quayside is home to Andrew and Marjolaine Du Bourg’s restaurant, where regional produce gets to stand centre stage. The antiquity of the building is evident through the old beams, but there is a contemporary neutrality to the interior, a confident charm that is matched by the output from Andrew’s kitchen. Both the couple have experience in top-end addresses and they created their own in 2014, giving Lymington a restaurant with serious chops. Andrew is from Yorkshire (via South Africa) and Marjorie hails from western France, and you may well notice evidence of this happy alliance on the menu, alongside a genuine creative streak. Via à la carte and two tasting menu options, expect winning flavour combinations such as wild nettle and dock leaf velouté, with braised Hereford snails and crispy bacon followed by crab lasagne with a delicious lobster bisque, or a celebration of Keyhaven lamb, with anchovy and celeriac purée and nori seaweed. Finish with lemon meringue soufflé with bouquet garni ice cream.
