The old place on the quay has been given a real decorative boost. There's a happy buzz from strong local custom, which pours in for the likes of charred piquillo peppers filled with herbed ricotta in roast garlic dressing, or plates of local crab and prawns with Scottish smoked salmon. Seafood mains wrap cod in chorizo and accompany it with artichoke and tomato gnocchi, or team monkfish medallions with aubergine purée and green tapenade. The fish component of fish and chips encompasses bass, brill, scallops and battered prawns. Meat includes grilled steaks, with indulgent desserts like vanilla cheesecake and chocolate ice cream, or lemon tart and raspberry sorbet, to finish.
