The name of this posh gastropub pays homage to Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, but this place does not look backwards. The setting is stylish, with tan leather banquettes and neutral creamy hues, and the food is very much what you'd expect of a 21st-century kitchen. There's an inventive take on the burger theme, matching an aromatic prawn patty with Marie Rose sauce and olive oil soil, ahead of a trencherman's portion of suckling pig with duck fat potatoes and roasted carrots. The inventive streak shows through again in a dessert of Bramley apple pannacotta and sorbet with goji berry granola.
