Herbert's overlooks some of the 55 hectares of Keston Common and its oak floors, oval-backed chairs and wooden-topped tables create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The food is modern with a global spin, as in interesting starters like half a roasted quail with orange and walnut crumble or beetroot and haloumi croquettes with pesto aïoli. Main course might be home-made squid-ink pasta with mussels, squid, tiger prawn and sauce vièrge, and there is a choice of sauces to accompany steaks - and a number of appealing vegetarian dishes. Finish with dulce de leche cheesecake and cream. There's a wide range of bar snacks, too.
