The black frontage gives a distinguished look to a neighbourhood restaurant in the quiet, leafy reaches of the West End, its wide terrace allowing pleasant outdoor dining in summer. The contemporary Scottish cooking scores a hit with precise, defined flavours. Start with a quartet of seared scallops with sliced chorizo, sauced with a buttery ribbon of herbs, lime and chilli, as a prelude to golden-skinned roast breast of guinea fowl garnished with a crisp bacon rasher, honey-glazed parsnips and mash in thyme-scented cider sauce. Desserts play to the gallery with an array of favoured flavours: perhaps dark chocolate delice, orange cake, hazelnut praline and honeycomb ice cream in orange anglaise.
