Vibrant Indian flavours in buzzy venue

The Chilli Pickle's open-plan interior works a casual, rustic look, with chunky wooden tables, blond-wood floors and vivid splashes of colour while full-length glass walls create the impression of dining alfresco. The vibe is breezy and buzzy, and the menu gives subcontinental clichés a swerve, dealing at lunchtime in smartly reworked thalis, dosai and streetfood-inspired dishes. At dinner, the kitchen cranks things up with Nepalese pork momo dumplings with smoked bacon and chive broth, followed by South Downs mutton Madras flavoured with coconut and tamarind, or you might go for sea bream marinated in citrus and herbs and cooked in a banana leaf on the tandoor.
