The name should be enough of a pointer to the Gallic inspiration for this buzzy 'modern take on a classic bistro', and the place ticks all the right style boxes with its hardwood floor, brown leather seats and open-to-view kitchen. A technically astute kitchen team produces fine-tuned food from splendid ingredients, leading the charge with duck rillettes paired with a poached egg, hollandaise sauce and crunchy French beans. Next up, pan-fried sea bream comes with crabmeat and a cassoulet-style stew of white beans, tomato, basil, chorizo and shrimp. A luscious dessert of Muscovado cream and crisp with ginger crumb and coffee granita is a reminder that sugar is not always bad news.
