A former coaching inn, this homely place has been run with passion and charm by Gerry and Cathy Craig for more than 15 years. The linen-covered tables are topped with flowers and candles, with wooden beams and exposed stonework adding to its appeal. Gerry's cooking does not try to reinvent the wheel, but neither is it stuck in the past. Confit duck leg with five spice has a good depth of flavour, while a main course fillet of trout comes with a herby butter, new potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Dessert might be warm lemon tart with lemon curd ice cream.
