The view across the golf course and sub-tropical gardens to the sea is a cracker (especially from the terrace), and with its proximity to Salcombe, the Thurlestone is a south Devon hotspot. The Trevilder restaurant is a star attraction, with its formal table settings and glorious views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The menu, including the daily changing 'Market Dishes', makes good use of the region's produce in dishes that have classical foundations. Ham hock terrine with black pudding crumb and quail's egg is a fashionable opener before slow-braised feather blade of West Country beef, or whole lemon sole with shrimps and samphire. Finish on vanilla pannacotta with textures of raspberries.
