This family-run hotel is in a lovely location, with the cove below and uninterrupted sea views. The kitchen has its roots in the classical techniques with a modern spin. Thus, sautéed scallops are partnered by melting crab thermidor and sautéed leeks. Presentation is a strength, seen in a main course of roast chicken breast wrapped in bacon with Madeira jus accompanied by earthy girolles, parsnip purée and a tartlet of caramelised shallots. A fish option might be roast monkfish in ham with wild mushrooms, spinach and red wine sauce. Breads are made in-house, and puddings may stretch to lemon and lime posset with vibrant raspberry coulis and home-made shortbread.
