The Tindalls' country inn in the Hope Valley charms, with a warm colour scheme, wooden pub-style furniture and a fireplace creating a relaxing atmosphere. The menu deftly steers between stalwarts and modern offerings. Open with roast pigeon breast, perfectly timed, with celeriac purée, caramelised shallot, pigeon ravioli and a blackberry jus, ahead of duck breast accompanied by beetroot and celeriac gratin, braised red cabbage, sesame leg croquette, parsnip purée and anise juice. Standards continue into puddings such as dark chocolate cake with poached baby pear, honey roast fig and port jelly or lavender pannacotta with blackberry sorbet, blackberry gel and honeycomb.
