Temple Sowerby is a smart family-run country hotel where the kitchen specialises in a boldly modern style with plenty of exciting flavours and unusual ingredients. To start, try the imaginative combination of Cornish white crab served with smoked Jerusalem artichoke, ketchup, pink grapefruit and tarragon emulsion. Follow up with the flavoursome breast of Goosnargh duck with oyster mushrooms, pine, preserved lemon and braised puy lentils, or perhaps confit pork belly with walnut and onion cream and Braeburn apple hash brown. Finish with subtly flavoured Yorkshire rhubarb (picked by hand in candlelight!), served with warm fermented gingerbread, buttermilk ice cream and sorrel.
