With a sweeping Palladian mansion at its heart, the Powerscourt resort has two golf courses, a luxurious spa and an Irish pub, but the main event food-wise is the glamorous Sika Restaurant. There are glorious mountain views from its third-floor dining room, a glossy space with an upscale finish and a chef's table. Skilfully cooked modern dishes start with pan-fried scallops with pigs' head croquette, creamed leeks and lardo di Colonnata, followed by a rib-eye and glazed cheek of veal with caramelised onion mash, purple sprouting broccoli, wild leeks and blanquette sauce. Dessert is a creative and well-crafted Guanaja chocolate soufflé with malted barley ice cream.
