A busy dining venue, drawing people with its decor and its modern European-style cooking built on prime local produce. Scallops, as fresh as can be, are served with no more than wilted salad and mayonnaise to make a delightful starter, or there might be the earthier flavours of Clonakilty black pudding with crispy pancetta, a poached egg and roast tomatoes. Timings are impeccable, seen in chicken breast with artichokes, root vegetables and a well-considered sauce, and monkfish dusted in black olives with chorizo, spinach and sunblush tomato fettuccine. Canapés and breads are of a standard, as are puddings along the lines of chocolate delice with salted caramel ice cream.
