The New Yard Restaurant has been carved out of the former stable yard of the vast Trelowarren Estate. The interior has a distinctive look, sporting a chequered floor and arched windows, and its punchy, far-reaching menu ranges from starters like cured brill with blood orange dressing, tarragon and almond or a sausage roll of pork and nduja with garlic mayonnaise and capers, to mains of seaweed linguine, pistachio gnocchi or cod fillet with purple sprouting broccoli, curry mayonnaise and a quail’s egg. Meat eaters might choose roast loin of pork or a 60-day aged sirloin. Puddings are worth exploring, judging by deep-fried chocolate fondant served with torched marshmallow ice cream.
