Conwy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, when it comes to matters of history, the town's Castle Hotel can hold its own. Dawsons Restaurant & Bar, with its courtyard garden and stylish decor, offers modern British menus that deliver brasserie-style dishes and classic comfort options. Start with a sharing plate of charcuterie or smooth chicken liver parfait with rich prune chutney, and move on to twice-cooked sticky pork belly (with caramelised apples and red onions), or Conwy mussels in cider and spring onion sauce. There are posh fish and chips, burgers and steaks, too, and desserts such as apple and brandy tarte Tatin. A slate of Welsh cheeses includes Perl Las and Caws Llyn, served with savoury palmiers and red grape and sultana chutney.
