Charming old inn with mountain views

Wines by the glass

The old whitewashed roadside inn with a stunning Snowdonia backdrop offers sanctuary to walkers, climbers and families. The interior has plenty of charm and you can eat in the bar or the terrace dining room and expect simple, homely stuff based on a good amount of regional produce. There's some modernity in the kitchen's output, with tempura king prawns with a Japanese-style chilli sauce on offer, or go local with smoked salmon, trout and mackerel roulade served with pickled vegetables and melba toast. Main-course Welsh rump steak is served in the classic manner, while Anglesey sea bass comes with locally-grown cauliflower and samphire and chive potatoes. Finish with lemon posset.
