The Furbank family brought this old coaching inn back to life in 2003 by creating a cool and contemporary venue and respecting the integrity of the old building. The menu delivers feel-good flavours based on quality ingredients (including some stuff they grow themselves). Smoked haddock risotto is helped along with a hint of curry spices and matched with cauliflower tempura, followed perhaps by a simple, comforting main of slow-cooked blade of beef with velvety mash, carrots and beans. Apple and frangipane tart with Calvados ice cream or morello cherry clafoutis with mascarpone cream end things indulgently.
