This 17th-century inn serves the local community. It has a shop, opens for coffee mornings and afternoon teas on Friday and Saturday and serves bar snacks all day. Interesting ways with seafood can be seen in crab cakes with mango salsa, pea shoots and beurre blanc, then pan-fried sea trout with ratatouille and saffron confit potatoes. Meat is deftly handled too: pheasant sausage with apricot and fig compôte and hazelnut emulsion, for example, followed by a duo of lamb (confit shoulder and rack) with fondant potato and pea and carrot purée. Don't pass on puddings such as chocolate marquise with caramelised oranges or plum frangipane tart with clotted cream.
