A hydraulic pumping station down on the waterside is the venue for a buzzy gastro pub and restaurant with a mezzanine seating area. The kitchen champions local produce, including foraged materials, and everything from bread to chutneys is made in-house. Depending on the season, you might start with Wiltshire hare with parsnips, hazelnuts and morel, or seared Cornish squid with broccoli and sea beet. Main-course whole lemon sole is one way to go, but there's also the likes of rolled shoulder and crispy breast of Mendip hogget with sprouting broccoli. End with salted peanut parfait with caramelised banana and bitter chocolate sorbet.
