Mya Lacarte sources materials as locally as possible. It's dedicated to healthy living, so the menu flags dairy- and gluten-free dishes as well as vegetarian, and the results on the plate are deeply satisfying. Starters can be as busy as pan-fried fillet of haddock with bubble-and-squeak, a poached egg, smoked bacon and pancetta and as simple as a pork Scotch egg with mustard mayonnaise. Choose from dishes of clearly defined flavours such as braised shin of beef with mustard-enhanced mash, baby vegetables and mushrooms, or a salad of roast winter vegetables with pine nuts, sunflower seeds, parmesan shavings and basil oil. Finish on deconstructed baked Alaska with basil ice cream.
