A likeable, informal sort of place, not least the Wine Press restaurant: a light-filled, raftered room on two levels. There's much to like on the menu too, with lots of modern takes on conventional British fare. Old Spot pig terrine, celeriac remoulade, apple gel and toasted brioche, or Jerusalem artichoke velouté , caramelised onion and parsley oil could be starters on the menu, followed by pan-roasted duck breast, cherry glaze, cumin gratin potato, sautéed chicory, or lamb shank shepherd’s pie and grated cheddar cheese. Finish with bitter chocolate fondant, salted caramel and toasted almonds.
