Historically, the rear of this black-and-white timbered, 18th-century building was used to rectify, or purify, gin on its arrival from the main part of the distillery on the other side of the Severn. The tastefully redesigned interior incorporates sofas in the first-floor bay windows overlooking the river. Lunch might feature a pulled pork, gherkin and home-made slaw sandwich, or a wild boar burger with chorizo, hash browns and deep-fried jalapeño pieces. Plenty of steaks in the evening, as well as pan-seared halibut; sweet potato and black bean chilli; and beef stew and dumplings.
