Open all year

Standing halfway between Worcester and Malvern on the main road, this aptly named Georgian free house offers a range of bottled beers, winter log fires and a mature shady garden at the side. Steaks and seafood are a speciality, but the menu also features a good choice of fresh, locally sourced hot dishes such as pork tenderloin medallion, black pudding, mash and creamy course grain mustard; grilled Scottish salmon fillet and sweet pepper ragout; and roasted Mediterranean vegetable, wilted spinach and goats’ cheese lasagne. Round things off with chocolate nut sundae with hot fudge sauce; or Bailey’s crème brûlée.
