Built as a farmhouse in the 16th century, by the year 1600 this was a cider house. When Andrew Mortimer bought this classic black and white timbered property he created the two intimate restaurants, where today lunch might be butternut squash roulade; slow-roasted belly pork; or smoked haddock and prawn pancake. For dinner, pan-fried king scallops with asparagus purée and crispy pancetta to start; then half a roast duckling with Grand Marnier and honey sauce; or baked salmon steak with dill and cucumber pickle in puff pastry. Cider these days comes from Robinsons of Tenbury, the 'Town in the Orchard'; the real ales all come from hereabouts too.
