The third Sun public house on this site since 1685, today's pre-war building is close to Arkell's Swindon brewery, which bought its predecessor in 1891. With a large garden and playground, and with Coate Water Country Park nearby, it is understandably popular with families, for whom the menus have clearly been designed. For example, there are takeaway fish and chips, sandwiches and hot drinks; chicken nuggets; giant fish fingers; cheeseburgers; and filled deli rolls. Main dishes include home-made three-cheese macaroni; Wiltshire pork sausages and mash; and scampi, chips and peas. An ever-changing specials board adds to the wide-ranging tally.
