Just 15 minutes from the M4 in the heart of Calne, this 16th-century former coaching inn was once home to the local brewery and the courtyard still retains the medieval brew house. Owned by Arkell's, the bar showcases that brewery’s beers including Moonlight, alongside monthly guest ales. The straightforward and appealing food menu focuses on traditional pub meals and old favourites. Typical dishes include honey-roasted ham with eggs and chips; Jack Daniels' chicken with seasoned wedges; cod, spinach and cheddar fishcakes; and red onion and gruyère cheese tartlet. At lunchtime, there is also a well-priced choice of sandwiches and jacket potatoes.
