There are excellent ales and good food at this village inn. The owners raise their own chickens, ducks and pigs, tend an extensive vegetable and herb garden, and barter with villagers for wildfowl and other produce. Bread is either baked in the kitchen or provided by the ethical Thoughtful Bread Company, and The Fox produces cured hams, charcuterie and sausages from its pigs. Typical dishes on the menus are smoked haddock Scotch egg with truffled cream leeks; and fillet of beef, boulangère potato, curly kale, garlic and shallot purée.
