Raising the beer and pizza game

Thatched flint cottages and a quiet millpond characterise this old village. The Richmond Arms is young by comparison, but this welcoming pub is drawing custom from far afield with its attractive combination of cheerful interiors, Harvey’s beers, sumptuous wine carte, and interesting menus. You might start with crispy rare salmon tempura roll with orange blossom and soy; followed by slow-cooked hare lasagne; beef brisket with winter slaw; or BBQ pheasant with fragrant Kashmiri spices. Outside there’s the WoodFired family-friendly bar with a vintage Citroën van that houses a wood-fired pizza oven, stoked up on Friday and Saturday evenings.
