Richard and Debi Morisot’s 16th-century village pub has a reputation for being friendly and reliable, qualities that have helped to make their venture a success. Another plus is the range of real ales, usually from Sharp's, Everards, Fuller’s, Hook Norton, Timothy Taylor or Wadworth. Menu options include smoked haddock Welsh rarebit; casserole of beef in horseradish; goats' cheese and pesto cannelloni; and bread and butter pudding with cream, custard or ice cream. If all you want is a lunchtime snack, there are chunky granary sandwiches, baguettes and hot paninis. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome.
