Reputed to be one of Shakespeare’s drinking haunts, The Broom is a timber-framed, 16th-century pub in a pretty village. This venerable inn has great charm and character, with log fires in winter and three sunny beer gardens for alfresco drinking in the summer. Chef patron Fritz Ronnenburg showcases the best local produce and offers locally-brewed ales including Purity Mad Goose. Everything is made on the premises and a typical meal might include organic Scottish salmon ‘three ways’ with samphire, Jerusalem artichoke, potato, lemon and belly pork lardons, followed by breast of Gressingham duck, gastronome potatoes, confit duck straws, local Mudwalls Farm vegetables and winter berry sauce.
