In 1742, a man called Sanderson Miller built this curious castellated property to mark the centenary of the English Civil War's first major skirmish. In 1822 it became an alehouse; fast-forward a hundred years and it was acquired by the Hook Norton Brewery, whose real ales you'll find to this day in the bar. There are four dining areas including a glass-protected balcony with panoramic views. The modern menus are inviting.
