The Wheatsheaf Inn is a distinctive, part hang-tiled Edwardian pub with enough vegetation to give Kew Gardens a run for its money. The hanging-basket festooned verandah, creeper-covered pergola and colourful garden just invite a lingering visit with a pint of Triple fff Alton's Pride to hand, relaxing after a walk in the Surrey Hills. Stay overnight in one of the comfy rooms and enjoy a pub classic or special from the wide-ranging menu. Start with warmed brie, cranberry sauce and nutty bloomer, moving along to hake fillet in real ale batter with chips; or honey and mustard-glazed ham with egg and chips. There's also a selection of steaks, sandwiches and salads, and sticky toffee pudding, or apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert.
