Four open fires warm this picturesque 15th-century pub, where over the inglenook fire on Wednesday nights the chef grills steaks and fish. Sixteen wines are served by the glass and real ales are sourced from Surrey to Cornwall. In addition to grills, sandwiches and ploughman’s, the menu offers Applewood smoked goats’ cheese and thyme mousse; crispy devilled whitebait; slow-cooked beef and Guinness puff pastry pie; crab and crayfish linguine; and home-cooked honey-mustard ham, Chapel Farm eggs and skin-on chips. A 'cover drive' away from the lovely garden is the cricket pitch, the Surrey Hills beyond.
