Step though the doors of Max and Polly Durrant's handsome property and you'll find a spacious restaurant, cosy bar, stylish lounge area and, at the rear, a terrace and garden, where there’s plenty to keep children amused. Adnams and Earl Soham badges adorn the real ale pumps, with Aspall cider alongside. A glass of sloe gin fizz would make a great intro for lunch or dinner here. Gifted chef Will Hardiman has a reputation for using all cuts of meat, including sweetbreads and ox cheeks, and Lowestoft-landed fish. Heavily reliant on seasonal produce from local suppliers, his daily-changing menus might feature pork rillettes, red onion marmalade, fried quail’s egg and salad; half a local lobster, garlic butter and fries; and bavette of Ketley beef.
