Mentioned in the Domesday Book, the beautiful village of Woodditton is just three miles from Newmarket, and the thatched Three Blackbirds dates from 1642. The two cosy oak-beamed bars offer a range of real ales and diners can choose between the restaurant and private dining room to sample a daily-changing menu packed with local produce. Perhaps Dullingham sausages and mash, buttered greens and onion gravy; pearl barley, roasted pumpkin and sage risotto; or local steaks from the grill that are followed by treats like home-made profiteroles filled with Baileys Irish cream.
