Around the corner from Stradbroke’s main street, is this Grade II listed thatched pub that dates from the Middle Ages. Real ales on hand pump and wine from the Adnams wine cellar are the draw here. The weekly-changing menu makes good use of local and seasonal produce to offer both British and Asian-style dishes, and in warmer weather you can sit outside at the front or in the garden. Typical options include teriyaki-marinated chicken skewers with salsa to start; and pan-fried calves’ liver with Suffolk dry-cured bacon, mash and onion gravy as a main course. Leave room for dark chocolate cake with praline ice cream. Curries and other dishes are available to take away.
