Only three miles north of Ipswich, in a lovely village, is this 16th-century country pub that combines old fashioned pub hospitality with an informal bistro-style restaurant. The menu changes frequently and there is an emphasis on local produce in dishes such as pan-seared scallops, celeriac and miso purée; belly of pork, chorizo croquettes, braised apple and red cabbage; and chicken saltimbocca, dauphinoise potatoes and a seasonal vegetable medley. Wash it all down with pints of Adnams ale and Aspall cider, or one of the nine wines served by the glass.
